The Atrium Show

One of our biggest challenges was to create a surprise going-away package to celebrate our executive producer’s graduation. Gathering the participants, editing last minute, and pulling off the ol’ switcheroo was a thrilling and rewarding experience.

Planning, Planning, Planning!

Ever since its inception, Nittany Talk’s creator, Simone Skinner, dreamed of producing an episode with a live studio audience. It was an ambitious task, with this episode there was no room for error. My job as director was the same as that of any other episode, to best visually capture our engaging talent while invoking a sense of professionalism. With the cast and crew rerouted to a new location, these responsibilities heightened.

Our executive board met with the network’s advisor in securing clearance for using the equipment in our selected space. A tech rehearsal was hosted in advance, while the board extensively reviewed our set design. In the waning hours of preproduction I extensively reviewed the shot list and camera cues with all of the talent and studio crew; all of these routines kept our staff comfortable and prepared in shooting our most ambitious episode. It would be this collaborative practice which would change my preparation process. Throughout the remainder of my tenure as director, I would make it my active mission to communicate my vision with all personnel, to ensure a seamless production.
