Homecoming
Traveling makes a world of difference.
It’s surreal to think that just two weeks ago I was still interning with Mandalay Pictures. Now I’m writing from the heart of Pennsylvania. It’s a sweet feeling to be home, but it’s an even better feeling reconnecting with my community. The first few days I took it easy, but then it was back to State College. I had the enormous pleasure of attending the CommAgency end-of-semester party and the premiere of over two dozen short films. The Graduating Class of 2024 is incredibly talented, the next generation of storytellers are promising.
My ten day retreat came to an end yesterday when I got to attend graduation. As somebody whose final two years of high school was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, I spent a lot of time to give myself closure with these seniors. Saying goodbye is a privilege we take for granted.
Back in December I spent as much time as I could with my friends, because I knew I didn’t have the luxury of a spring semester like everyone else. Now, that bittersweet feeling has eroded into just sweetness. It’s great seeing these faces again, and I know this isn’t goodbye. The industry is so small, we’re going to cross paths again.
This is more of a see you later.
